Smoke and flames shattered the quiet of a Sunday morning in Sedona on Jan. 15. Three Sedona Fire District engines and crews responded to a report of a fire in West Sedona just before 8 a.m.
The lone male occupant of the home and a firefighter both received injuries. “Crews reported the fire being significantly involved upon arrival with smoke and fire,” Johnson said. The mobile home’s single occupant was able to evacuate the building, though he did suffer burns to his feet. He was taken to the Sedona Campus of the Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment. “He did have burns as a result of the slippers he was wearing,” Johnson said. “One firefighter also received burn injuries. The unit to the west received significant damage to the outside, which did penetrate into their unit through the windows.” As a result of the blaze, three people are displaced, he added. “Obviously, the lone occupant of the mobile home and the two people that live next door have also been displaced. They’re staying with one of the neighbors across the street.” The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The blaze burned quickly due to the volume of items inside the house. |
